The Biggest Little Farm
The source of our food is more important than ever – and so are the passionate farmers who grow it. Want to see what it’s really like to abandon urban living, and start a 200-acre traditional farming operation? Check out The Biggest Little Farm, in select theatres May 17th.
There are two things truLOCAL knows very well. One is going all in on a dream – seeing the vision, and committing everything we have to making dreams into reality. The other is an unabashed passion for connection, transparency, and for our beautiful home here on Earth. These are things we have in common with John and Molly Chester – the traditional farmers featured in the new documentary The Biggest Little Farm, in select theatres May 17th.
Following an eviction notice from their LA apartment, John and Molly made their dreams of farming a reality. With little experience in traditional farming, a few key investors, and a lot of grit and determination John and Molly transformed their 200-acre farm into a diverse ecosystem, boasting fruits, crops, livestock, and even bees.
The Biggest Little Farm follows eight years of John and Molly’s journey – from the day they broke ground on their new plot in California, to selling 500,000lbs of traditionally farmed food in one year. It also highlights the importance of understanding our natural surroundings, and truly connecting with the land, the animals, and the microorganisms that our ecosystems rely on.
It’s becoming more important than ever to know where our food comes from. And it’s remaining as important as ever to support those small farmers with big dreams, who care so deeply about what they raise, the land they cultivate, and how they get food to our tables. We’re so fortunate that our big dream of connecting everyday people with passionate farmers just like John and Molly is a reality for us, each and every day.
