Extra Lean Ground Chicken Breast
It's all in the name! Extra lean ground chicken, is well, extra lean. Free of trans fat, low in saturated fat and naturally gluten-free, this course ground lean option comes from The Butcher Shoppe. These Ontario grown chickens are raised in well-ventilated covered barns with large windows allowing plenty of natural sunlight in. The birds are fed a non-GMO vegetable grain diet of corn, wheat and soy, grown without any added chemicals, herbicides or pesticides. The farmers give the animals twice the space as conventional flocks, which allows them to spread their wings and engage in natural behaviours. The birds are never caged or forcibly confined.
COOKING TIP: Stuffed bell peppers are a delicious low fat, low carb meal option. Just sauté the extra lean ground chicken with some chopped onions and garlic until it's fully cooked or 74C (165F). You’ll want to break down the larger clumps to ensure they are fully cooked. Season it with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and some chilli flakes if you like a bit of spice. You can even mix in some beans and corn if they're handy! Stuff your bell peppers with the sautéed extra lean ground chicken and top it with cheese before finishing them off in the oven.
