Maybe you have never heard of a “Veggie Balti” before but we are here to spread the word about this flavour powerhouse. You don’t even need to be vegetarian to love this spicy pasty pie. Our friends at Sharman’s Proper Pies have taken the traditional Balti from Northern India and Pakistan and put a UK feel to it so it is a little lighter and healthier. This 5” pie combines sweet potato, chickpeas, peas, carrots, garlic, tomato, and spices to create one of our favourite vegetarian options. Honestly, we don’t even miss the meat! Sharman’s Pies says that this will feed 1-2 people but we don’t want to share it.


COOKING TIP: No need to stock up on flour to roll out the dough because these pies are already made. Just take it out of the package, put the frozen pie in an oven preheated to 400℉ and cook for 45-60 minutes (depending on your oven so check it as it cooks). Bonus points for anyone who apple an egg wash before cooking it but honestly, Sharman’s makes a really flaky crust so the wash is not even needed.
