Customer Spotlight: Taking to the Trails

It’s no secret that we love following along with what our customers and supporters are up to – whether you’re posting to social media, or sending us an email to let us know what crazy cool adventures are on the horizon, we love being part of your lives. Just recently, a longtime supporter of ours completed a thirty-hour wilderness race through the terrain of Algonquin Highlands, Ontario. Yes, you read that right – thirty hours.

It’s no secret that we love following along with what our customers and supporters are up to – whether you’re posting to social media, or sending us an email to let us know what crazy cool adventures are on the horizon, we love being part of your lives. From your dinner table to your cottage to your sports games, we’re grateful to be along for the ride. We may be focused on connecting you to the source of your food – but we’re equally focused on connecting with you!

Just recently, a longtime supporter of ours completed a thirty-hour wilderness race through the terrain of Algonquin Highlands, Ontario. Yes, you read that right – thirty hours. The Wilderness Traverse is not only a tremendous testament to physical prowess and extensive preparation, it’s also a massive mental feat. Pushing through exhaustion, navigating the long route to the finish line, and overcoming each trial and tribulation along the way takes passion, determination, and a whole lot of grit. To put it simply – we’re in awe.

The race, which covers more than 150km, involves canoeing, trekking, and mountain biking as part of a four-piece team. The level of preparation required to succeed in such a strenuous event is intense – each member of the team should be equally versed in each of the three required components. This isn’t the type of race that one stumbles into haphazardly – this is intentional, planned, and extensively prepared for. The type of training done leading up to the event – and how each athlete fuels themselves in the months, weeks, and days approaching the trek – are paramount to success.

It’s a genuine honour to be welcomed into the homes and onto the dinner tables of so many incredible people within our greater community. We can look around our office and see a sea (okay, lake – there aren’t that many of us!) of smiles, knowing that whether we’re supplying a backyard barbeque or fuelling a wilderness adventure, we get to be a small part of each customer’s day-to-day. It’s something special that we just don’t take for granted.
