truLOCAL's simplest meal ideas yet!

truLOCAL's prepared entrées are fully-cooked and so easy and delicious, you won't know how you survived without them.

When you think of truLOCAL, you likely think of mouth-watering, high-quality meat sourced from farmers local to your province – and of course, convenient home delivery. Or perhaps you think of the amazing recipes we share on our website and social media. But there’s one question we continue to ask ourselves – how can we make everything that we do even better? We keep searching for incredible new products to add to our already robust marketplace, to give you more mealtime options in your freezer. We work with local suppliers who share our values and vision, and are always looking to make meal planning even more convenient. That's why we couldn’t be more excited to introduce the latest innovation to the truLOCAL line-up.

truLOCAL’s fully cooked, heat and serve pulled pork, pulled chicken, and pulled beef are now available! Made of high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, these convenient meals are perfect for busy weeknights, or days when cooking just feels like a chore. We worked closely with the talented chefs at NUVO Taste to develop restaurant-quality, pre-cooked pulled meats that are sealed in ready-to-cook packaging and only needs to be heated before serving. We’re talking freezer to plate in under forty minutes – it doesn’t get much better than that!

Our new prepared products are fully cooked so they can be served hot or cold. They are perfect for tacos, pizza, poutine, sandwiches, or topping a salad. You can heat them up any way that you want to but we recommend using one of the two following super easy methods:

Method 1. Boiling method

This is the easiest way to make sure that your meal is perfectly cooked every time. It doesn't matter whether you cook it from frozen or thawed, all it takes is a pot of boiling water. Here’s how to heat it:

  1. Fill a pot with enough water to fully submerge the package of food and bring the water to a boil.
  2. Do not remove the product from the package - it’s designed to handle the temperature of the boiling water. Carefully add the package to the boiling water and simmer. If heating from frozen, simmer for 20-30 minutes. If heating from thawed, simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Carefully remove the package from the boiling water with tongs and allow it to cool for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Carefully open the package - it’s still going to be very hot and steam could escape.
  5. Bangs some pots together if you want to make it sound like what you are doing is really difficult. Serve to guests that will surely marvel at your culinary abilities.

Method 2. Oven method.

Heating our new products up in the oven is pretty easy too! For best results, we recommend fully thawing the product first and removing it from the package.

  1. Place the package in a bowl and thaw overnight in the fridge or thaw in a sink of water.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350℉.
  3. Remove contents of the package into an oven-safe dish and heat in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until warmed through.
  4. Remove from the oven and serve.

No matter which method you choose, consume the product within 3 days after thawing.
