Brisket for the smoker-less households
No smoker? No problem.
No smoker? No problem.
So, you’ve probably read a thousand different ways in which a brisket should be smoked and all our ‘fire up the smoker’, ‘brush up on those smoking skills’ moments this month. But, if you don’t have a smoker, you might’ve thought to yourself ‘I get it, I didn’t buy one. Next topic’. Well, you’re in luck.
Yes, we are talking to you. The grill and oven master who did not see the need in purchasing a (rather expensive, not gonna lie) smoker. This article was created for you. A how-to guide on how to cook a brisket, for the smoker-less households.
And trust us, they will never tell the difference.
All you need is a fridge and aluminum paper. Well, a little more- but truly, not much. In terms of ingredients, you’ll want to mix 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, a generous amount of sea salt, 2-3 drops of chili or hot sauce, and 2 tablespoons of black pepper.
You’ll then want to rub this sauce all over your truLOCAL brisket and place it, fat side up, in a baking dish. Cover it and let it marinate overnight.
The next day, all you have to do is let it bake at 300°, covered, for a total of 4 hours. Then, about 20 minutes before it’s ready to pull out of the oven, you will cover the brisket with this mixture and pop it back in: ½ cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of honey mustard, and 2-3 drops of hot sauce. Slice it. Serve it. Enjoy!
