Wild Caught Atlantic Sea Scallops
Did you know? Scallops are low in calories and cholesterol while being rich in protein. These wild caught tender, sweet medallions from Effing Seafoods are actually shellfish even though you rarely see them being sold or served with their shell on. Effing Seafoods works tirelessly to source the absolute best seafood. In addition, the Canadian population of scallops is healthy, and the DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) considers it to be sustainable.
COOKING TIP: With so much natural flavour already we love these scallops sauteed in a garlic butter and lemon sauce. Simple yet fantastic. Remove scallops from packaging, pat dry and season with salt and a pinch of pepper. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and butter to large cast iron skillet or sauté pan on medium-high heat. Heat to almost smoking point and add scallops. Sear scallops 90 seconds per side and remove from pan and set aside. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 minced cloves of garlic into the same skillet. Heat for 1 minute, add 1.5 tablespoons of lemon juice and return scallops to pan. Sear scallops in mixture for 1-2 minutes, turning often to soak up all the delicious flavours. Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper if you desire and serve immediately. Pair with grilled vegetables and parmesan risotto. Bon Appetit!
