Chicken Legs
Dark meat lovers unite! Chicken legs are a 2-in-1 piece, including both the thigh and drumstick. These chicken legs (with the back bone still attached) come from Kingsland Hutterite Colony. Their chickens are raised in New Dayton, AB on a vegetable and grain mixed diet. Their flocks are also "free-run", meaning they're kept in open areas with all the fresh air they want.
COOKING TIP: With the skin and bones in tack, these chicken legs can be crisped up in the oven or on the BBQ with some light seasoning (garlic powder, paprika, and your favourite dried herbs will do the trick). Opt for a slow cooker or pressure cooker for meat that will literally fall off the bones. Wait! Don't toss the bones away! Save them for stocks, sauces, or gravy.
