Grass-Fed Sirloin Steak
If you are unfamiliar with sirloin steaks, they are lean, well-flavoured, and moderately tender steaks from the rear, or top butt, of the steer. Sirloins are hard-working muscles so they are lean, especially compared to popular ribeyes or striploin steaks, but full of beefy flavour. Our 100% grass-fed and finished sirloin steaks are from raised locally at Ferme d’ORée, a farm that takes pride in raising their high-quality, sustainably responsible beef without the use of antibiotics, hormones, or synthetic pesticides. We love grass-fed steaks because they’re leaner, firmer, higher in antioxidants and vitamins, and have twice as many omega-3 fatty acids as regular grain-fed steaks.
COOKING TIP: You can cook a sirloin steak using many different methods but we prefer them on the grill or in a heavy skillet. No matter how you cook sirloin, make sure to keep an eye on it or use a meat thermometer because the lack of marbling means that this cut can dry out if it is overcooked. You're looking for 130-135°F for medium-rare. Once cooked, enjoy it beside mashed potatoes and green beans, or coleslaw and corn on the cob.
