Maple Pork Bacon
How can something as amazing as bacon ever be improved? Well, there’s only one way - add something equally amazing like maple syrup to it. Maple balances the bacon’s salty smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness and uniquely maple flavour. It’s the upgrade you didn’t know bacon needed but once you try maple bacon, it’s hard to go back to the regular stuff. We found that the best maple bacon comes from our friends at VG Meats located in Simcoe, Ontario. Their maple bacon starts with high-quality pork raised without antibiotics that is cured with delicious maple giving a flavour that is truly Canadian.
COOKING TIP: Maple bacon can be cooked the same way that you like to cook your traditional bacon. You can use a frying pan, a baking sheet in the oven, a smoker, or even a microwave! We prefer to avoid the mess and cook it in an oven preheated to 350℉ on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Compared to cooking bacon in a frying pan, there’s almost no mess and you don’t have to flip it as you do in a frying pan! All you have to do is wait until it cooks to however crispy you like it. This usually takes 25-35 minutes and you can use that time to cook whatever you want to serve with it. Are you thinking of serving it with eggs or using it to upgrade your next BLT or grilled cheese?
