The Ol' Faithful Pie - Mince beef, cheese & lager gravy

  • 1 Pie

The Old Faithful is a classic New Zealand pie made from locally sourced lean ground beef in a lager and gravy sauce with added aged white cheddar. It kinda sounds like the best parts of cheeseburgers and poutine - all in one flaky crust. This incredible pie is from our friends at South Island Pies located in Edmonton where they combine their kiwi heritage with amazing local ingredients from Alberta. This 5” pie is a journey of flavour as the first bite starts with a buttery, flaky crust and the smooth flavour of the gravy, and finishes with a hearty satisfaction that only a pie filled with ground beef, cheese, onions, garlic, spices, and beer can provide. It’s kinda like the best night at the pub but in a crust.

COOKING TIP: No fuss required, just heat it and eat it. Preheat your oven to 375°F, remove the pie from the packaging, place it on a baking sheet, and cook for 40 minutes (or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F). Remember that the filling will be very hot when it comes out of the oven so definitely let it cool off before taking a bite. This 5” pie serves one (very happy) person.
