Steak and Cheese Pot Pie
You likely know that truLOCAL loves steak but did you know that we love steak pie too? Yeah.. you probably could’ve guessed that steak lovers would love steak pie... but as steak lovers, we had really high expectations and this pie even exceeded every single one! This cheesy 5” steak pie is made by our friends at Sharman’s Proper Pies, a company that brings traditional English pies to Ontarians using locally sourced ingredients. Picture the tender cubes of steak and finely chopped onions, slowly braising in a rich gravy that has a hint of rosemary and tomato, then topped with cheese curds and wrapped up in a flaky crust. It's a savoury, hearty steak lover’s dream, just in pie form.
COOKING TIP: No need to season and braise beef all day because Sharman’s Proper Pies has done all the hard work for you. The only thing left to do is remove the packaging, preheat the oven to 400°F, and cook for 45-60 minutes. We recommend that you let it cool for about 5 minutes but set a timer because the smell is so amazing that it’ll feel like a lifetime. This pie measures 5” and feeds 1-2 people but we will doubt that you’ll want to share it so maybe you should buy an extra.
