How to Plan Your Meat for the Week
It can be easy to leave the “thinking about food” portion of your day until you’re ravenous, and just want something now. Planning a menu ahead can make a big difference when it comes to putting food on the table (and most importantly, in your mouth). It can also help you save money, which is a major bonus!
At the end of the day, you have to eat. Probably at the beginning of the day, too. And in the middle.
But the big question is always...what to make?
It can be easy to leave the “thinking about food” portion of your day until you’re ravenous, and just want something now. Planning a menu ahead can make a big difference when it comes to putting food on the table (and most importantly, in your mouth). It can also help you save money, which is a major bonus!
Having food delivered via a subscription takes a lot of the guesswork out of what food you have available to cook - but you still have to plan for it to make the most of your meals.
PLAN FOR YOUR WEEK
First, you should probably think ahead to your week, and figure out exactly how many meals you'll have to make. Consider things like team lunches at work, your evening sports games or activities, plans with friends, etc. Sometimes, you're only eating at home 2-3 nights out of the week – so you can plan for that.
PICK SOME RECIPES
Knowing what you plan to cook is the big key here. Have some recipes in your back pocket, that you know how to cook and that you know taste good. Having an idea of what you're making when takes a lot of the pressure off – and who doesn’t love a relaxing, stress-free evening?
THAW YOUR MEAT
Ordering meat online, and having it delivered to your house, is super convenient. You have everything you need for a few weeks to a month plus, already handy in your freezer. Once you've decided on what types of recipes you'd like to make for the week, grab the products you'll need out of the freezer and transfer them to the fridge. Having them already thawed will make the meal prep even easier!
DO YOUR SHOPPING
Bring a list, and get to the grocery store. As enticing as the snack aisle is, try to stick to the basics -- the stuff you need to make the recipes you picked. If that means grabbing sauces, sides, or produce -- try to grab it all in one trip! Hate grocery shopping as much as I do? You can actually order that stuff online, too from places like Switch Grocery.
Meal planning is a great habit to get into. While it can be tricky at first, it can take a lot of stress out of what to eat. And when you have to eat every single day...forever...the best thing you can do for yourself is make the process a little easier.
