Sea Salted Grass Fed Organic Butter

  • 1 Package of Butter

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting butter from Europe, you know something is different. This butter was created by the folks at MC Dairy using centuries-old techniques and local Ontario grass-fed, organic jersey milk. The milk is barrel churned in small batches just like in the olden days. For an extra smooth texture, the fresh butter is folded to remove most of the water and whey and Fleur de sel is sprinkled into both flavours to inhibit mould growth. Fleur de del is a sea salt that is naturally made off the coast of France. Under specific weather conditions, ocean water will evaporate in tidal pools, and the resulting large delicate flakes of sea salt are hand harvested. This crackly and briny salt is full of flavour, which enhances the sweet extra creamy butter. Each block of salted butter is hand formed and stamped with a beautiful flower before being wrapped. Once you’ve had a taste of this small batch, barrel churned, organic, grass-fed butter you’ll never go back to the supermarket stuff.

You’ll receive this block of butter frozen with your regular meat order. Feel free to continue to store it in the freezer until ready to enjoy. Thaw and store your salted butter in the fridge to keep it fresh. Once opened, salted butter is best consumed within about a month.

*PLEASE KEEP REFRIGERATED AFTER OPENING*

COOKING TIP: Is there anything that doesn't taste better with butter? We love to spread this butter on freshly baked sourdough bread (topped with even more Fleur de sel) or make a compound butter to top grilled steaks or fish. To make compound butter, mix a half cup of softened butter with a teaspoon of lemon juice, a minced clove of garlic, 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, and 1 tablespoon of your favourite mixed fresh herbs (ex. Chives, oregano, thyme, basil or tarragon), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Form the mixture into a log and chill it in the fridge wrapped in parchment. Top any red meats, fish, seafood, veggies or potatoes with compound butter the next time you want to impress your guests!
