Unlocking Extra Points with truLOCAL: More Choices, More Value

At truLOCAL, we know that building your perfect box of locally sourced meats and seafood is all about choice. Our new Extra Points feature is designed to give you even more flexibility, allowing you to personalize your box with added selections. Let’s dive into what Extra Points are, how they work, and why they’re the perfect addition to your truLOCAL experience!

What Are Extra Points?

Extra Points are additional points that allow you to go beyond your box’s base amount. With Extra Points, you can add more products without missing out on your favourites! So get the extra steak or roast that you’ve had your eye on! This feature is available for truLOCAL’s Starter, Family, and Mega Boxes, allowing you to add extra products beyond the box's base points.

For instance:

- Starter Box: Up to 4 Extra Points can be added (Minimum of 9, and Up to 13 Total)

- Family Box: Up to 4 Extra Points can be added (Minimum of 20, and Up to 24 Total)

- Mega Box: Up to 1 Extra Point can be added (Minimum of 26, and Up to 27 Total)

If your box typically holds 9 points (for example, in the Starter Box), adding a 10th item will mean you're using Extra Points, so you’ll have more options for customizing to your tastes and needs.

How to Use Extra Points

Using Extra Points is simple:

- Start building your box as usual.

- If you add more products than your box’s base points allow, Extra Points will kick in.

- You’ll receive a pop-up notification that tells you when you’ve gone beyond the standard points and will show any additional costs on the checkout page. In your Account View, you’ll also be able to see how many points you’re using, including any Extra Points, along with the associated costs. For your convenience, the items you select with Extra Points will automatically be added to your next order as well making it easier for you to get more with you monthly order without having to add them between deliveries. If you do not want these products in subsequent orders, please be sure to remove them before that next box ships out.

How Much Do Extra Points Cost?

That depends on the size of the box you are adding the Extra points to. Our boxes range in both size and price but the Extra Points cost the same as the base points in your box. Once you extend beyond the base points in your box, the popup with tell you the cost of the Extra Points should you choose to use them to get extra products.

Are Extra Points Different From Add-Ons?

Extra Points are not replacing Add-Ons, which we are now calling Member Offers to clarify that they’re separate from Extra Points. While Extra Points remain in your box from month to month, Member Offers are priced lower than regular items and highlight seasonal favourites—making them a great deal for members looking for additional variety.
