Grass Fed Beef Bones
These nutrient-rich grass-fed and finished beef bones are courtesy of our friends at Two Rivers Specialty Meats. It's been said that the nutrients from beef bones help support gut health and boost your immune system. What nutrients do you ask? There's a laundry list of them, but here's a quick taste: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and collagen.
COOKING TIP: Before turning these into a broth, stock, or stew, you'll first want to roast the bones at 450°F for about 30-40 minutes, turning them once. You can roast them alone or with vegetables (you can't go wrong with carrots and onions, but add in some leeks and garlic and you won't regret it). Once roasted, add any additional vegetables and spices (like bay leaves, peppercorns, and celery) and add enough water to cover the bones plus a few inches over. A bit of acid, like apple cider vinegar, will help cut the rich flavours as well. Simmer for at least 8 hours and don't forget to stir it ever so often and skim off some of the fat at raises to the top!
