Best Sauces for Basic Cuts

Meat is awesome. It makes any meal better. At least, we sure think so. But sometimes meat needs a little boost to really shine, and that’s where the sauce comes in. The sauce you pair with your meat can make or break your meal.

Meat is awesome. It makes any meal better. At least, we sure think so.

But sometimes meat needs a little boost to really shine, and that’s where the sauce comes in. The sauce you pair with your meat can make or break your meal. Here are some of the best sauces for your most basic cuts:

Chicken Breast

Chicken breast is pretty versatile, but it can be pretty bland on its own. From sweet to spicy to savoury, the options are endless.

Salsa: Salsa is super underrated, but is a great option with chicken. Toss chicken breast and salsa in the slow cooker for pull-apart fajita filling, or toss it in the oven for a tasty tray bake. Either way, it’s cheap, easy, and delicious - a total win.

Tequila lime: If tequila is involved, you know it’s a good time. Tequila lime chicken is super easy to make, bursting with flavour, and will make you look like a master chef.

Chipotle hot sauce: Hot chicken is great on a sandwich, or in its own with a side. Chipotle hot sauce has a smokier flavour - perfect for the barbeque!

Ground Beef

Ground beef can be made into all kinds of different things - burgers, meatballs, or just cooked on its own and mixed with veggies or pasta. The sauce you pick is what will tie the dish together -- choose wisely!

Classic BBQ: Barbeque sauce is an obvious choice. Barbeque sauce was made for beef, and ground beef is no exception. Regardless of what you’re making, barbeque sauce will elevate it to another level of deliciousness.

Teriyaki: Teriyaki beef is an underrated delight. Whether you’re tossing it in with a stir-fry, or mixing it in to make teriyaki burgers, the result will be delicious - umami at its finest.

Mac Sauce: Mac sauce makes any burger taste like you’re eating out. Try it out with a deconstructed burger -- mix cooked ground beef with lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese, and throw some sauce on top!

Bacon

Yeah, bacon is pretty great on its own. Cooking it with sauce can totally change your bacon game for the better - yep, that’s possible!

Maple chipotle: Maple bacon is the bomb. Maple chipotle bacon? Even better. Sweet, savoury, with a little bit of heat. Maple chipotle bacon is delicious on its own - or piled on top of a caesar!

Sriracha: A little heat never hurt anyone! Spicy bacon is great with eggs, steak, or right off the pan. If you love the heat without the sweet, then this is the sauce for you!

Brown sugar: Not everyone is a spice lover, and that’s okay. Baking bacon with brown sugar makes for sweet, savoury, delicious candied bacon - need I say more?

Honourable mentions

Honey garlic salmon, creamy mushroom pork chops, or orange-glazed chicken wings.
