Maple Mashed Butternut Squash

This speedy recipe is a fall favourite. It pairs well with roast turkey or pork.


  • 1 package 500g (17 oz) of frozen cubed butternut squash
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt and pepper


  1. Bring the water and butternut squash cubes to a boil
  2. Cook for 5 min
  3. Drain well
  4. Add 1 tablespoon each of butter and maple syrup
  5. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste
  6. Mash by hand or for a smoother texture, transfer to a food processor and pulse to puree
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with a pat of butter and more maple syrup
